Underwater scooter...  Think James Bond.  And they don't have to be expensive if you are more into fun than using high tech gear to explore submerged caves.  I picked up one of these entry-level SeaDoo scooters last summer and it has been nothing but fun.  Sure, you can use it for scuba - I have and it is fun.  But I think the real value of this sucker is for snorkeling.  I can't hold my breath for very long, but with the underwater scooter, I can stay down much much longer.  Even your local lake will seem much more exciting when you are gliding over and around the boulders like a seal.  My kids (4 and 7) both love it too.  It floats (if you don't add any weight to the balast chamber) so the little guy can just hang on and motor all around the pool.  They still aren't free, but if you can afford the $150 or so, it will be the best water toy money you have ever spent.  I ordered mine right from Amazon: Sea-Doo Seascooter Classic Water Scooter.  Amazon also has more expensive models if you want some advanced features - like the ability to tow a couple friends.
